Tom Molloy grew up in Boston, the son of Irish Immigrants. While writing, he has driven 18-wheelers interstate, served as a volunteer firefighter, worked de-icing commercial jetliners, been a journalist, and worked as a social worker in Boston's inner city neighborhoods. While covering The Troubles as a freelance journalist in Northern Ireland, he lived with a Catholic family in the gritty Falls Road section of Belfast. There he accompanied IRA fighters during street battles, and was arrested on several occasions by British security forces. After one such arrest he spent a brief stint at the infamous Castlereagh detention center, where the action of REBEL STREETS begins.
Mr. Molloy's previous books are THE VANDAL (The Permanent Press, Sag Harbor NY), and THE GREEN LINE (Charles River Books, Boston). His fiction has appeared in Redbook, StoryQuarterly, and Red Cedar Review. He lives in Maine with his wife, Rita.
