Michael Sudduth

Michael Sudduth (D.Phil., University of Oxford) is a philosopher of religion with a background in analytic philosophy, Christian theology, and eastern philosophy and religion. His spiritual journey has led him from the Christian tradition to the Vaishnava bhakti traditions of India, the philosophy of Advaita Vedanta, and Zen Buddhism, each of which informs his approach to the Transcendent.

He is a professor in the Philosophy Department at San Francisco State University and a former resident at Jikoji Zen Meditation Retreat Center. His interests include theism, religious experience, life after death, eastern philosophy and spirituality, psychology and philosophy, and philosophy and fiction.

After writing two scholarly books in the philosophy of religion, Sudduth is exploring dark fiction as an important medium for engaging questions that have been at the center of his philosophical work and interests in abnormal psychology. In July 2019, Michael completed his first dark fiction novel - Sylvia's Shadow (currently under editorial review), and he has two other psychological thriller novels in progress.
