Mark Barratt

Mark Barratt was born and brought up in London and his novels (so far!) have all been set in his home city's turbulent Victorian past. Apart from his work as an author, he's had a varied -

some would say too varied! - and interesting career as an actor, a freelance journalist and a teacher. These days he lives with his family on a hill in Berkshire.

MERCY is Mark's debut adult thriller and was inspired in part by the controversial early life of British prime minister William Gladstone. He is also the author of the JOE RAT series for young adults. Apart from fiction he has written a biography of the actor Sir Ian McKellen, who he first saw on the London stage while still at school.
