Robert E. Mongue

Robert E. Mongue is a retired Associate Professor of Legal Studies at the University of Mississippi. A 1976 graduate of the University of Maine School of Law, he has over forty years of experience as a trial and appellate attorney in both state and federal courts. His practice emphasized representation of individuals, small businesses, and major U.S. and foreign corporations in litigation of contract, corporate dissolution, construction and real estate, trade secret and non-competition disputes. He also provided arbitration, mediation and guardian-ad-litem services.

Prof. Mongue's primary area of research was the perception of paralegals as professionals by attorneys, paralegals, and the public, methods of changing that perception, and methods of improving paralegal pedagogy regarding professionalism. He presented frequently at American Association for Paralegal Education (AAfPE)national and regional conferences on paralegal professionalism and other topics. He has also presented at gerontology and philosophy conference. He is served as President of AAfPE after several years on its Board of Directors, Co-chair of AAfPE Scholarly Journal Committee, and an editorial consultant for "The AAfPE Educator," as well as serving on advisory boards for the Organization of Legal Professionals and the New York City Paralegal Association.

Professor Mongue continues to teach via distance learning from his home in Sanford, Maine. He also continues to write. The sixth edition of "Basic Administrative Law for Paralegals" will be published in September of 2021.
