Scott Shay is a linguist and author of books on topics in linguistics. Growing up in the Pennsylvania Dutch country in the US sparked his interest in language and linguistics, especially of the Germanic languages. He holds a BS in German and Finance and an MSBA in Information Systems from Pennsylvania State University. He spent several years studying in Germany and received a Master of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley, in Germanic linguistics. He hopes to complete his PhD in the field in the future. He is the author of the following books: Middle High German Verbs (2006), The History of English: A Linguistic Introduction (2008), iRef Guide: German Grammar (2011), iRef Guide: Spanish Grammar (2011), iRef Guide: Dutch Grammar (2012), and iRef Guide: English / ESL Grammar (2012), with many more in the iRef Guide series in the works (next are French, Italian, and Chinese).
