Jack Gunthridge

Brainy is the new sexy.

Jack Gunthridge is a high functioning autistic writer and filmmaker. Since he technically has Asperger's, there are some people who would like to classify him as an Aspie. Jack prefers the more common autistic label. He feels it gives other people on the autism spectrum a role model for what life with autism can be. Plus he likes to show up the so-called normal people with an example of autism that doesn't fit their common perception.

As an artist, Jack is not comfortable with the genius label. His first novel had him being compared to J.D. Salinger. His first children's book was called an instant classic and had a children's book art museum interested in his work. He knows autism makes him different. Some people will enjoy his work because of this. Others might not know what to do with him.

Jack writes differently from other writers. While he mostly gets positive reviews, there will be people who don't know how to take his works. Jack grew up in a time where authors were encouraged to test the limits of literature. This was before publishers considered most readers to be ignorant and had to spell out everything for them.

Jack is an independent author. He enjoys the freedom of writing the way the story needs to be told instead of dumbing down his material for the masses. He would rather stay true to his art, the characters, and the story than to write a best seller. Best sellers quickly disappear from the public's eyes. Good literature lasts forever.
