Judith Hunter

Judith G. Hunter has been writing most of her life, but it was not until the horror of 9/11 that she felt she might help people by sharing her written words. This was when she decided to publish "Heart of Mine" and donate hundreds of copies to counseling centers in NY City.

She subsequently published "Sail Away My Friend." This is a story about her best friend dying, and the gift that her final days turned out to be. It is a touching memoir that takes place in the last week of her friend's life. This book, also shows the path of loss and healing. It will touch your heart.

Judith became interested in helping bereaved people after her own struggle with grief, when her husband died suddenly. She strongly felt there was not enough help for people widowed young or for children. After becoming certified in grief counseling, and working as a grief facilitator, she studied Thanatology, in graduate school. This further convinced Judith that more needs to be done to educate people on death, dying, and bereavement.

Judith began working as a Bereavement Coordinator, for Beacon Hospice, an Amedisys Company in 2017.

Her latest book, for children, is "The Good-Bye List." The concept for this picture book was inspired by young grieving children. Hopefully, it will help other children find a path to healing.
