Bill Vancil

Bill Vancil was born in Kewanee, IL in 1941. He attended Illinois Wesleyan Univ. and Augustana College. From a one dollar-an-hour announcer, he went on to become ExecVP/Gen.Mgr. of a five radio station group in Madison. In June 2013, Wisconsin Broadcasters Association inducted Bill into the "Hall of Fame." Diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2004, Bill went to Loma Linda Univ. Medical Center in CA for proton treatment. Accompanied by daughter, Tori Lou, their journey inspired his book, "Don't Fear the Big Dogs." In 2009, he published "Roy and Kitty", "written" by his dog and cat. In February 2010, Bill had two liver transplants at UW Hospitals and Clinics. Dubbed by some as a "renaissance man," Bill has semi-retired in Marana, AZ, where he enjoys writing, graphic design, photography, painting, playing music, golf, and operates an internet business. He served on the Advisory Council of Loma Linda Univ. Proton Treatment Center.
