Jeffery Beach

When he was a boy of six, Jeffery Beach, was attending Sunday services in the children's chapel of his church, he leaned over to a boy next to him, pointed to the image of Christ on the cross and said, "I want to be just like him." His little friend replied, "No you can't. Nobody can." Jeffery didn't say anything but didn't believe that. It was his first remembered spiritual experience.

At the age of seventeen Jeffery read the book Siddhartha, by Herman Hesse. He was moved to say that he wanted to be just like the main character, Siddhartha. He never looked back and started his journey on the convoluted path of spirituality. A few years later, Jeffery devoted his life to Buddhism more than fifty years ago and has studied Buddhist sutras and meditation practices. In 1986, he was the first Western initiate into a rare esoteric form of Taoist-Buddhist meditational Qigong, which he now teaches on a one-to-one basis. In 1994, in accordance with the tradition of the Drikung Kagyü lineage of Vajrayana Buddhism, he took refuge in The Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha.
