Robert E. Hunt

Robert Hunt (1948 - Present) was born in Winchester, Virginia. At the age of 8, his parents divorced and his mother remarried taking him to Norfolk, Virginia where he remained until he graduated from high school.

In 1968 Robert left home and joined the Marine Corps. After more than a year of training, Robert was sent to Vietnam to work with a combat infantry company as a tactical air controlman. Robert was wounded in action less than a month later, but continued his service in the 1st Battallion 3rd Marine Regiment for over 12 months.

Upon his return from Vietnam, Robert married and fathered two daughters over the years. Because Robert saw lots of combat during his tour of duty in Vietnam in May 1969, he experienced terrible Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) which made it difficult for him to cope with life. For seven years he would wake up screaming some nights, drenched in a cold sweat.

Finally, he could take no more and quit his job in banking to join the US Army. He wanted to be back among people he could talk to who could relate to his combat experiences. Robert served for 7 years in the Army spending 5 of those years in Germany.

In 1984, Robert and his wife separated while they were living in Germany. His wife left him with the two girls, now ages 7 and 10. The Army said that he could not deploy combat ready, thus barring him from re-enlistment.

It was then that Robert got out of the Army and returned to a banking career. He raised his two daughters by himself for most of the years that followed. In 1998, Robert remarried to Peggy Stinson, a woman his age that he had met on the internet. They have been happily married ever since.

It was Peggy who one day discovered a manuscript that Robert had written about his experiences in Vietnam. The manuscript had been hidden away in a box for over 20 years. After reading it, she was convinced that it needed to be published. It took another 20 years to convince Robert to do additional research on his tour of combat duty and re-write the manuscript, which became his first published book, One Four Man Up, available on Amazon.

Robert started his own business in 2003 called The Lauck Street Shipyard. Robert had been building historic wooden model ships for 15 years at that time. The owner and editor of a magazine called Ships in Scale asked him to write an article for the magazine. The article was to describe to readers how they could build a particular model ship kit called the Armed Virginia Sloop. When Robert built the model and wrote the article, it was too long to publish. The editor suggested that he market the book himself. It was that book supplied only in eBook format that lead to the formation of his new business which still prospers today.

Robert wrote 15 additional eBooks on model shipbuilding over the years. In 2017, Robert decided to try his hand at writing a fiction novel - something he had never done before. Six months later he released Blind Terror on Amazon.com.

Blind Terror led Robert to decide to write a series of other fiction novels that would all be part of an ongoing story he called Evil Enemies. In January, 2019 Robert released his second fiction novel in his series of Evil Enemies, The Gray Cardinal. He then began to write the third book in the series called The Man in the Mountain Fortress which he expects to release in the fall of 2019.
