Manny Hernandez

Manuel Hernández writes from the edge where memory, exile, and the present collide. Born in Caracas in 1972 and based in Central Florida, he returned to poetry during the pandemic. His first collection, Laberinto (2023), traced his childhood in Venezuela and brings back echos of his family in Cuba; his second, A un respiro de la orilla (2025), listens to a world unraveling, from Caracas to Mariupol to a quiet bar in Winter Park. His poems have appeared in Casapaís, el cautivo, and anthologies across Latin America, Spain, and the United States. He has lived with type 1 diabetes since 2002.
