What fun I have had, writing books with my grandchildren!

My CRYSTAL PALACE trilogy was illustrated by my granddaughter (then 8,9, and 11); my new NINJA COUSINS book was illustrated by my grandson (aged 10). Each chapter book is appropriate for elementary-aged children.

As a child, I received a letter from my tooth fairy, Angela, explaining that she lived in the knothole in the tree in my back yard. Thus began my intrigue with fairy folk. Angela is the main fairy in the CRYSTAL PALACE books.

As a Grammy, I noticed my grandsons' excitement with ninjas. As a middle school teacher, I taught about Medieval Japan and the real Ninjas of old. This led to NINJA COUSINS, a time-traveling adventure in which my four grandsons are the main characters.

I was a teacher for 30 years, kindergarten through eighth grade, reading thousands of books to children over the years. I hold a Master of Arts degree in Education (with emphasis on Reading and Writing), am a UCLA Writing Project Fellow, and a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators.

I conduct interactive creative writing/illustrating workshops for elementary classrooms in the Los Angeles/Central Coast area and in the NW suburbs of Chicago. Discussion questions, activity leaflets, readers' theater scripts, and coloring pages are available with each book for grades 3, 4, 5. Check them out at my website: michelehauserstories.com

I have two sons and six grandchildren. I live with her husband, Steve, in California and Illinois.
