Amy R. Murrell

Amy Murrell is from Memphis, Tennessee. She got her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Mississippi in 2005. She worked as a full-time academic at the University of North Texas from 2005 to 2020. She and her family then decided to head home to Memphis, where she is now in private practice as well as in an Affiliate Faculty role at the University of Memphis. She has authored a six-book picture series published by Shawnee Scientific Press that highlights stories of acceptance and commitment therapy for children. These books correspond well with The Joy of Parenting (co-authored with Lisa Coyne, published by New Harbinger in 2009) and To Be With Me (co-authored with Melissa Connally, published by Tif'eret Press in 2023). Amy is passionate about writing that integrates evidence-based psychological science, holistic healing, and creative storytelling. When she isn't working with patients or writing, she is probably to be found making some creative meal from scratch!
