Joe Sottile is a children's poet, performer, and essayist. Joe is a former teacher. Joe has a crazy streak in him. He is crazy about poetry. Joe believes that poetry could literally save the planet, if it became contagious, widespread, and was shouted from mountaintop to mountaintop with dynamic leaders from country to county. Joe even writes about this rather far-fetched dream in WHY POETRY CAN SAVE THE PLANET.
Joe also says that insanity doesn’t run in his family--it gallops. On saner days, Joe writes poetry for kids, and articles for adults. He has been published in “Teachers of Vision”, “Once Upon a Time” magazine”, “Learning” magazine, the “English Journal”, “Woman's World”, “Chicken Soup for the Child’s Soul”, “Think Positively for Kids”, and in several anthologies.
He’s was a poetry enrichment instructor for B.O.C E.S, and a tutor at R.I.T.’s, Learning Center in Rochester, New York. He has given over 200 children’s poetry performances in schools, libraries, special events, and nursing homes. He doesn’t truly feel alive unless he is doing a poetry shows for others or conducting poetry workshops.
Joe now lives in Southport, North Carolina. He is passionate about playing pickleball and poetry. Does poetry matter? Does sunshine matter? Contact him at: sottilejoe24@gmail.com. You will not regret it.
