Originally from the Chicago area, Cathy Jakicic moved to Milwaukee to attend Marquette University in the early '80s and never left. She began making jewelry in the wee hours of the morning while working the late shift at a Milwaukee daily newspaper right after college.
In 2005, she began her adventure as editor of Bead Style magazine leading the publication's rise to be the best selling beading magazine in the world. Before she left for a new journey in 2013, she saw the magazine grow from a print-only operation to include a vibrant website and multiple digital offerings.
Now the editor of the Healthcare Facilities Today website - part of the Trade Press Media Group - she still loves making jewelry and being part of the beading world.
In addition to making jewelry, Cathy enjoys travel, baking, gardening, movies, books, all kinds of crafts and spending time with family and friends. She lives in a beautiful old house in Milwaukee filled with beads , dust, carved word and leaded glass.
