Hello, I'm David Burrows. I enjoy writing just as much as I enjoy reading.
Literary Influences
Among my favourite authors are Tolkien, George R. R. Martin, Michael Sullivan, Brent Weeks, Ian Irvine, David Gemmell, and Weiss and Hickman, among many others.
The Writing Journey
Writing is never easy, and there was one point when I found myself completely stuck. I had written my characters into a corner and could not see a way forward. I refused to backtrack, and then, several months later, inspiration finally struck. The solution arrived so unexpectedly that it felt as though I were reading someone else's book. It was a wonderful moment, and I still wonder where that idea came from.
Life Experience and Storytelling
I believe my writing — especially my storytelling — has been shaped by life experience. My time in the Territorial Army taught me about comradeship, endurance, and facing hardship in mountains, snow, and ice. I was also part of Regia Anglorum as a Saxon warrior, which gave me first-hand experience of historical combat.
