Kit DeCanti

Kit DeCanti is a Northern California girl, and has been writing mysteries ever since the 1950s, when she and her siblings spent hot summers inventing mysteries to solve. She has considered herself a writer since age 8 when an essay she wrote about Navajo Indians was published in the local newspaper. Kit continued to write, but seriously put pen to paper-- or fingers to key board, as it were- in the late 1990s and sat down to write her first novel over a three year time period. As Kit re-wrote it other mysteries kept pushing themselves to the forefront of her focus. DeCanti's first mystery novel, SECRET ON COBB MOUNTAIN, was published in 2009, and practically before it was in print she had two sequels swimming in her head. Although her suspenseful mysteries could stand on their own- Kit typically wraps an intriguing romance around them. As if a mystery and romance weren't enough- Kit DeCanti also takes you on a vivid word tour of the fascinating Lake County, California where she and her husband has lived since 1996. Kit has added 3 sequels to what has become her Cobb Mt Mystery Series: RETURN TO COBB MOUNTAIN, KONOCTI CAVES, CROSSROADS INN TIME, JOURNEY TO COBB MOUNTAIN- Beginnings and last in the series but certainly not keast, Cobb MT-JOURNEYS END.

Besides her Cobb Mountain Mystery Series, other books DeCanti has out are THE ROCK HOUSE which is a children's book based on the house Kit's father was born it and was illustrated by Dan Spears; SECRETS OF A LAZY COOK- or How I Survived Marriage to An Italian When I Hate The Kitchen, a cook book filled with great recipes and funny family stories, and illustrated by V. Baarcsh. DeCanti also wrote the commentary for SpearsSpheres & SpaceSeekers- Absolutely Abstract, an art book by Dan Spears.

Kit likes to refer to herself as a 'late bloomer', because although she has written most of her life, she was almost fifty before becoming the prolific author she is now. Kit credits Lake County California for her recent creativity, "I started sculpting, painting and writing almost before I unpacked after moving to Lake County. Just one drive around Clear Lake tells you why the county is full of artists, authors, musicians and poets-- I can't imagine not being creative surrounded by such beauty." Kit DeCanti is a wife, mother, grandmother and former preschool teacher, who has always enjoyed using stories as a way to teach her children and now grandchildren about their heritage and life in general.

Kit lives with her biggest fan-- her husband Tony.

When Kit is not writing, or spending time with her family, she paints and produces documentaries. She recently produced and stared in the TV series Chef's Challenge, and is planning to put her SECRETS OF A LAZY COOK- Or How I Survived Marriage To An Italian When I Hate The Kitchen on DVD.

Kit recently released a NEW SELF HELP BOOK- Although it deals with weight problems since Kit detests the four letter word 'diet'- she calls her new book 'MY DOIN' IT WORKBOOK' she also has released a new exercise CD called 15-4-6.
