Clifford A. Ramirez has worked in higher education for over 20 years and is currently serving as registrar at Claremont Graduate University. He has worked at UCLA, Antioch University Los Angeles, and Pomona College. Cliff is also the founder and president of Cliff Ramirez & Associates, which has provided FERPA training and consultation for higher education institutions since 2004.
Cliff has been teaching and presenting on FERPA since 2000. Through LRP Publications, he published a textbook and training guide entitled "Managing the Privacy of Student Records." Two other books--"The FERPA Transition: Helping Parents Adjust to Higher Education Records Laws" and "Records Management in Higher Education" followed. In early 2009, he collaborated with attorney Aileen Gelpi on Jossey-Bass' "The FERPA Answer Book."
Active in his profession, Cliff has contributed his talents and leadership abilities to the Pacific Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers (PACRAO), the American Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers (AACRAO), the Council on Law in Higher Educataion (CLHE), and College Parents of America. He served as the 2003 PACRAO President and founded three professional development institutes.
A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Cliff attended the Graduate Theological Institute while studying for the priesthood. He later worked for Bank of America before joining higher education. Throughout his life, professional development has been an important value. He is a certified facilitator of the Franklin Covey curricula and has also developed and presented his own seminars and workshops.
A native of southern California, Cliff lives there still with his son and two Golden Retriever mixes.
