Armando Salas-Amaro

Dr. Armando Salas-Amaro holds several nationally accredited degrees: a Bachelor of Business Administration from Florida International University; a Master's of Business Administration from St. Thomas University; and a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Dr. Salas-Amaro has been in higher education for over 15 years. Currently, he works for the State of Florida at the Florida Department of Education, Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA). OSFA is a public agency operating under the executive branch of state government and provides access to higher education by serving as the administrator of state grants, scholarships, and guarantor of low-cost federal student loans. Prior to joining OSFA, Dr. Salas-Amaro worked for the nation's largest community college as a financial aid administrator and also worked for Sallie Mae Corporation representing the Amsouth Bank division.

Dr. Salas-Amaro is also faculty at the University of Phoenix and facilitates graduate business courses in Marketing, Management, Operations Management, Marketing, and Leadership.

Dr. Salas-Amaro serves on several state and national boards such as the Florida Association of Postsecondary Schools and Colleges (FAPSC) Continuing Education Committee, Mapping-Your-Future Steering Committee, and is an active member of the Florida Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (FASFAA), the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA), and the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP).

Mapping-Your-Future awarded Dr. Salas-Amaro an Excellence award in May 2009 for the contributions made to the Revenue Plan of Action Committee.

Dr. Salas-Amaro's dissertation was on Default Prevention and Management Practices at Florida Community Colleges.
