Heather Manley

Dr. Heather Manley is a practicing naturopathic doctor who received her medical degree in 2001 from the National University of Natural Health in Portland, Oregon. She is also the award-winning author of the Human Body Detectives book and curriculum series.

Her focus is on preventative healthcare using functional medicine philosophies that allow people to be confident and proactive in their everyday health. She is a contributing writer to Dandelion Moms, Organic Eats magazine, Parents Canada, and KIWI magazine.

Dr. Heather was inspired to write the Human Body Detectives stories when she searched for kid-friendly books that weaved together human body physiology and nutrition but could not find any. As she mentions often, "you can learn all about physiology; however, for it to work optimally, you need to nourish it."

Human Body Detectives was then born, providing an entertaining and engaging educational resource to teach kids how their bodies work and what foods best feed them. When children learn how their bodies work, they are more apt to make healthy choices that give them a head start on a long, healthy life!

The five stories featured in the Human Body Detectives collection include The Lucky Escape, Battle with the Bugs, A Heart Pumping Adventure, Osteoblasts to the Rescue, and Brainiacs. A curriculum for teachers and homeschooling families is available for each book on the Human Body Detectives website.

The Human Body Detectives series won the Moms' Choice Award and a Parent Tested, Parent Approved winner. Dr. Heather has been named to the Top 50 Mompreneurs Bloggers List on Babble, VoiceBoks, and blogtrepreneur.

Dr. Heather lives and practices on the Big Island of Hawaii. You can learn more at humanbodydetectives.com.
