Michael Daley

Michael Daley is a poet, novelist, translator, and essayist. He is the author of eight full-length poetry collections and several chapbooks. Along with The Straits, Moonlight in the Redemptive Forest, Reinhabited: New & Selected Poems, and Born With, Ground Work appeared in fall of 2025. His first novel, Telemachus, published in 2022, followed his 2016 essay collection Way Out There. He has translated Italian poet Lucia Gazzino (Alter Mundus) and selections from Horace. Daley’s poems appeared in American Poetry Review, Hudson Review, Ploughshares, Prairie Schooner, North American Review, and elsewhere. A founding editor of Empty Bowl and managing editor for The Madrona Project, he was poet-in-residence for the Washington State Arts Commission, Skagit River Poetry Foundation, and the Massachusetts Cultural Council. He taught at Mount Vernon High School in Washington for many years. His work has received support from Fulbright, Artist Trust, the NEH, and the Washington State Arts Commission.
