Dr. Athique is currently Associate Professor at the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities, University of Queensland.
Originally a graduate in Media Arts from the University Of Plymouth, Adrian was a teaching technologies officer at the Open University before relocating to Australia to complete his PhD at the Centre for Asia Pacific Transformation Studies, University of Wollongong. Adrian was subsequently a postdoctoral fellow in Critical Cultural Studies (CCS), a lecturer in Sociology at the University of Essex and Chair of the School of Arts, University of Waikato.
In recent years, Adrian has published four books: The Multiplex in India: A Cultural Economy of Urban Leisure (with Douglas Hill, Routledge, 2010). Indian Media: Global Approaches (Polity, 2012) Digital Media and Society: An Introduction (Polity, 2013) and Transnational Audiences: Media Reception at a Global Scale (Polity, 2016). He is currently completing a two volume collection on the Indian Media Economy (with Vibodh Parthasarathi and SV Srinivas).
