Dr. David C. Alves

Dr. David C. Alves was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was adopted at the age of 6 and writes about the issues he faced along his spiritual journey in his memoir: "Adopted: An Adoptee's Memoir of Healing Love." He grew up in Ludlow, MA, until he left home for East Texas State University followed by military service in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war era. After being honorably discharged from the service, he returned to New England, to school, and his writing.

David has worked as an investigative news reporter in Boston, has written articles for various journals and magazines, and has served on the Editorial Board of "Henceforth." He has held memberships in the Evangelical Theological Society and the Society for Pentecostal Studies. He is the author of three other books related to spiritual formation and pastoral ministry. He also wrote and published a chapbook of his early poetry, entitled "High Along the Green Weyes."

David holds earned degrees from Asbury College (B,S.ed); Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (MDiv.); and Regent University (D.Min.). He also held membership in the historical honor society--Phi Alpha Theta.

For over 50 years--both together and individually--David and his late wife, Marcy Devers Alves, have spoken and sung at leadership, spiritual formation, youth, and couples retreats and conventions, as well as in hundreds of churches nationally and internationally (Brazil, Haiti, UK, Australia, Republic of Georgia). They served over half of that time in pastoral ministry. Their five music albums continue to draw a new generation of listeners on iTunes and Spotify. David relishes travel, general aviation flying, libraries, time away with Jesus, checking off items on his Bucket List; and, writing in the mountains or by the water.

David continues to mentor and teach on his growing YouTube channel: "The Abiding Life with David C. Alves."
