Emil Silvestru

Born in Romania, Emil has been a caver for 44 years (since age 12) and after graduating in geology, cave research became his profession (his “jobby”). His PhD thesis dealt of course with the geology of a major karst terrain in Romania, his native country. Growing up in a totalitarian environment regime, he was blessed to spend almost all his weekends exploring caves (away from the reach and ears of the political police). He published 25 research papers and co-authored 3 books. He now lives in British Columbia, Canada and continues to study caves and karst terrains, especially on Vancouver Island and also lecturing world-wide on the issues of science and religion.
