September 16, 2009 --

The Fine Art of Sri Lankan Cuisine, written by Disna Weerasinghe and Anula Ranaweera, has won the 14th Gourmand World Cookbook Award in the "Best Easy Recipes" category, and went on to compete for "The Best in the World" award.

The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards commenced in 1995, and was founded by Edouard Cointreau - a descendant from a line of French liquer-makers. The Awards serve to honor and distinguish those individuals who produce a noteworthy and easily digestible cookbook, while also affording the same individuals the opportunity to access international markets and audiences. The Awards also provide retailers and food connoisseurs with a catalog of the most distinguished cookbooks. The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards is a truly international competition, with entries from around the world each year.

Previously, this book was displayed at the Frankfurt Germany Gourmand bookstand as an interesting recent cookbook which deserves the special attention of international visitors. This book was published in September 2007 by Vijitha Yapa Publications, Colombo, Sri Lanka. The book is available through Amazon.com and Vijitha Yapa Publications.
