I write stories to inspire people to help others. It is something instilled in me since the third grade. Back then our school teacher would encouraged one student to help another to shoot marbles, leap on the Giant's Stride, or hit a home run. Later it was explaining algebra, or outlining sentences. In college, it was helping with French, Spanish, or dropping the Texas accent. So today, I naturally work at writing good stories with suspense, snappy conversation, and happy endings. The undertow is to inspire the reader to help others. It may be simple, like finding their car in the parking lot, or sharing food with a neighbor. In short: I write stories to inspire readers to help make a better world. --- However, sometimes I use scary words and villains with long fingers that will fit around your throat. But don't worry; in 40 years of writing, I haven't lost a reader yet.
