Student, pizza chef, search and rescue pilot, martial arts instructor, slaughterhouse butcher, police officer, Army medic, street department laborer, truck driver, mechanic, carpenter, plumber, electrician, musician. David A Shaffer epitomized 'been there, done that' until a stroke brought it all to a screeching halt at the age of forty-three. A heart attack ten years later ended his recovery. Not one to stay down for long, he relocated himself from his native Iowa to Phoenix, Arizona where he re-invented himself as a science fiction novelist. He is currently at work on his fourth novel.
