Jeffrey G. Pepper (1944- ) was born in New York City and grew up in neighboring Westchester County, New York. He holds an MSW degree from Adelphi University and worked for some 20 years in facilities serving troubled children. He began his adult involvement with pure-bred dogs in 1969 with the purchase of a Golden Retriever as a pet. He has been involved with dogs and dog shows ever since. He is the breeder or co-breeder of more than 65 AKC Golden Retriever Champions and more than 50 Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen champions. Past President of the Dog Judges' Association of America, he was also Vice President of the Golden Retriever Club of America and President of the PBGV Club of America. Approved by the American Kennel Club to judge all Sporting and all Hound breeds and Groups, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Best in Show, he has judged in Asia, Australia and New Zealand, South America, Europe and Great Britain. He is the author of five books on dogs as well as a contributor to several dog related magazines. He lives in Florida with his 3 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.
