Biography

Murray M. Silver was born in Georgia in 1929. Upon graduating from Benedictine Military School, he entered Armstrong Junior College, followed by the University of Georgia Law School. His studies were interrupted when he was called to active duty in the "Mighty Eighth" United States Air Force during the Korean War. Graduating in 1953, he then entered private practice in Savannah.

During the initial years of his career as a private lawyer, Murray Silver got involved in defending the less fortunate. One such case got the attention of Martin Luther King, Jr., who came to Camden County, where the trial was taking place, to meet this unusual man, representing a poor black man for murder. There began a friendship that lasted his lifetime.

He became a prominent trial lawyer handling over 3000 cases, both in the US and internationally. He was appointed General Counsel of the Georgia Department of Labor, serving for three years before returning to private practice. He was appointed Judge of Municipal Court of Atlanta, Georgia.

Retired October 31, 1997. Currently enjoys porchside views of the Atlantic Ocean in beautiful Hilton Head Island, SC, while writing and blogging for his book site www.DaddyKingandMe.com
