Charles W. Mark

Charles W. Mark was born in India, and he shares his insights on history, religion, culture and spirituality from his background as an associate professor of History of Religions and Christianity as well as from his twenty-five years experience as a minister in the United Methodist Church. Charles received his Bachelor's Degree in Theology (B.D) from Leonard Theological College, Jabalpur, and Senate of Serampore, Calcutta, India. He earned his Master in Theology (M.Th.) from United Theological College, Bangalore. After completing special studies in Church History and Theology in preparation for his doctoral studies (1980-81) in Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodsit University in Dallas, Texas, Charles went on to earn his PH.D in Church History from Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, New Jersey in 1988.

Charles published his first book, "Spiritual Intelligence (SQ): The Symbiotic Relationship Between Spirit and the Brain" in 2006. He published his most ambitious book, "Spiritual Intelligence and The Neuroplastic Brain: A Contextual Interpretation of Modern History" in 2012. The newer and updated version of his book with the same title will appear in 2015 with one full new chapter (Third Chapter) with the title, "Brain and The Evolution of Variations in the Development of Religious Mind."

His books explore the evolution of the modern brain that is now adapting to the world of digital technology, information revolution and the intercultural world of globalization. Drawing his insights from history, theology and neuroscience Charles seeks to demonstrate the need for a fresher understanding of spirituality in the world of digital technology, information revolution and globalization. Stated briefly, Charles seeks to reconceptualize spirituality what has been the perennial pursuit of humanity from time immemorial as he restates its role in our personal lives, as well as in the life of society.
