Sharon Presley has long been fascinated with rebels. Her Ph.D. dissertation (chaired by Dr. Stanley Milgram, author of "Obedience to Authority")was a study of political resisters to authority). Her areas of psychological research include obedience and resistance to authority and the psychology of women so it is only natural that she is interested in women rebels such as Voltairine de Cleyre.
Dr. Presley recently retired from teaching at California State University East Bay. She now devotes full time to writing and other projects. Her new book,a practical application of what she knows about authority, titled "Standing Up to Experts and Authorities: How to Avoid Being Intimidated, Manipulated and Abused" was published May 5, 2010. She is now working on a sequel which will deal with women and authority. The website for the current book is http://www.standuptoauthorities.com.
Dr. Presley is also working on a book on American women resisters to authority in the 19th century.
