Carey Blakely

Carey Blakely is a freelance writer, editor, and author of both fiction and nonfiction.

Her novel Crossed Odds launched the Crystal Dystopia series in May 2022 with more to come (stay tuned for release dates)!

Carey has also co-authored two books of nonfiction: Crazy Like a Fox: One Principal's Triumph in the Inner City (NAL/Penguin) was featured on NPR, MSNBC, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, CNN, and more. Next! A Matchmaker's Guide to Finding Mr. Right, Ditching Mr. Wrong, and Everything In Between (SelectBooks) was an Amazon Best Seller and a finalist for the San Diego Book Awards.

She wrote 130 news and feature stories for The Coast News over the course of a year and has also published articles in the San Francisco Chronicle, San Diego Magazine, SurfGirl Magazine, and other outlets. Carey works as a freelance editor for clients in academia and other fields. Her alma mater is UC Berkeley, and she currently lives in San Diego.
