Nellie Sabin

I started out at a New York publishing house 40 years ago (!) and was an acquisitions editor by the time I quit to go freelance. I understand publishing from both sides of the desk - I am an editor, and also my work is edited by others. This makes a big difference in the way I approach my authors!

If you are looking for help with your book, try to find someone with publishing experience. Anyone can call themselves an editor. It makes a huge difference if a freelance editor has actually worked in the business.

In the beginning I started with straightforward editing, which I still do. Gradually I moved into manuscript editing, reorganizing, and development; collaborations and ghostwriting; writing book proposals to submit to agents or publishers; and writing articles for online publication. I specialize in nonfiction: mind/body/spirit, medical, psychology, health & wellness, diet & exercise, women's health, personality assessment, and more. My current project is writing someone else's memoir.

I have published a dozen nonfiction books with New York publishers, either as a co-writer or a silent partner.
