Wayne Hendrickson has spent 24 years in security, law enforcement and campus safety. He served as Security Captain at Biola University, before transitioning to a role as deputy-sheriff in Santa Cruz, California. He spent 15 years serving as a Proctor at Porter College, and 5 years as a Community Safety Officer Supervisor at the University of California, Santa Cruz, positions that have no relevance to the stories he relays about a place called Uncle Charlie’s Summer Camp.
In addition to the law enforcement work, Wayne spent five years teaching at the junior and senior high school level, and his varied experiences also include construction work, radio disc jockey-ing, dairy cow-milking, and trying (and failing) to keep up with migrant farm workers in the northern California lily fields. For his employment as a Del Norte County Assistant County Administrative Officer and acting Personnel Director, he continues to serve karmic penance. Fortunately, he was able to change jobs before the mandatory partial lobotomy.
Wayne Hendrickson has no relation to the former UCSC proctor known as “Maverick."
