Robert A. Brock

Dr. Robert A. "Sunny" Brock discovered America at the end of the Great Depression in a redneck hick town of wonderful God fearing backwoods Irishmen at Woodville, Texas to a fifteen year old mother, crippled by polio at age thirteen. Born eight months before the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor; Brock's family followed their construction-worker-father, changing schools fifteen times in twelve years. Having overcome dyslexia and social stigma, he learned to read in the fourth grade and won the UIL national story telling contest in 1950. After nine years US Air Force as Chaplains Assistant during the Viet Nam War era he returned to civilian life and graduated from Sam Houston State University, with Masters of Education. Proctored in Creative Writing by author Jewel Gibson (Joshua Bean and God, Black Gold) he began The Salt Lick series while teaching High School Vocational Agriculture, Eighth Grade Earth Science and horticulture to women prisoners at Goree Prison Unit. He attended Texas Baptist Institute Seminary at Henderson, Texas, received Doctorate of Theology in Bible Languages and has taught at TBI over thirty-five years. Robert has authored several seminary text books, Romans the Fifth Gospel, Interpretation of English Bible, Thesis Writing for Master's and Doctorate, Teaching Methods, Bible Backgrounds, Christian Doctrine, published by Criterion Press and articles in religious periodicals.
