Tom Duggett

Tom Duggett is Senior Associate Professor / Reader in Romanticism at Xi’an Jiaotong - Liverpool University (XJTLU; Suzhou, China), and Honorary Fellow of the Department of English, University of Liverpool. He is the author of Gothic Romanticism (Palgrave Macmillan), a study of Wordsworth, Coleridge, and the ancient constitution, which received the Modern Language Association of America's Prize for Independent Scholars for Distinguished Research in Language and Literature (2012). Tom was a guest-editor of the special issue of The Wordsworth Circle marking the bicentenary of Wordsworth's Excursion, and is currently an Advisory Editor of Romanticism. He has also produced a two-volume scholarly edition of Robert Southey's Sir Thomas More: or, Colloquies on the Progress and Prospects of Society, published in the Pickering Masters series by Routledge in 2018, with further editions in preparation of major works by Southey and by Ann Radcliffe. Other recent and forthcoming critical work includes chapters in The Edinburgh Companion to Gothic and the Arts (2019), The Cambridge History of the Gothic (2020), The Oxford Handbook of Victorian Medievalism (2020), The Oxford Handbook of Romantic Prose (2022), The New Cambridge Companion to Coleridge, and journal articles in Romanticism on the Net (2017/20) and in Romanticism (forthcoming, 2023).
