Errol Hardin

E. Lawrence Hardin a native of Austin, Texas stepped boldly onto the literary scene in 1995 with his freshman novel Asleep From The Dance after watching the devastation the Crack Cocaine trade was having on average African-American families in his home community of East Austin ... a strategic funding mechanism created by the Reagan Administration creating collateral damage ... people who were names, voices and lives rather than mere statistics.

A child born in the throws of the war at home , Racism and the one abroad, Vietnam, his early life was shaped by the black & white images brought into the living room by CBS each night. The 70's ushered in the age for court mandated busing, for integration of public schools. This avid reader could not find himself or those like him in the required reading whether it was works by Homer or Poe and news and entertainment television offered only shallow stereotypes of slaves, criminals, and foolish buffoons. It was this vacuum that was the inspiration for Hardin to put pen to paper.

Hardin is bold in his confession of faith and belief in Christ and it is reflected in the characters in his works. When asked how he is doing, he most often replies, "I'm blessed beyond measure", which simply means that if one tried to itemize all that God has done and is doing they'd find the task impossible.

His personal mission statement is: Create art and literature that inspires thought. Honor God daily. Live happily and die without regret.
