Joy Hatch

Joy Hatch was born during the environmental movement of the 1970's and raised by thrifty parents. Her family's Midwestern background and depression-era experience taught her the value of frugality as they reduced, reused, and recycled to save money and natural resources.

After earning her Master's degree, Joy has spent the past thirteen years as an educator. During summer vacations she built homes in Mexico, tromped through European museums, and fed monkeys in Thailand before she had the even greater adventure of having children. She finds cloth diapers fascinating and gets a thrill out of whirling up homemade organic baby food.

Joy Hatch can be found composting, writing, teaching, and chasing her two children in the green city of Eugene, Oregon.
