David is a professional speaker and published author that draws from a unique blend of work experiences at OSHA, Duracell, Owens Corning, and Fluor. Each experience has given David insight on how to lead improvement on all levels of an organization.

David began his career in 1992 working for OSHA as a Compliance Officer. He led safety inspections and fatality investigations across a variety of industries. His regulatory background exposed him to successful safety cultures as well as cultures that did not demonstrate a commitment to safety. The well rounded experience provided David a unique perspective on how to build a world class safety culture.

David’s job with OSHA provided a valuable background that helped him transition into a job with Duracell as an Environmental, Health, and Safety Engineer. The facility was a dynamic environment with unique hazards. They manufactured AA & AAA batteries for North America. For 5 years, David led injury prevention strategies with a large workforce in a high demand industry.

In 2000, David started work for Owens Corning as an Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager during the construction phase of a state of the art manufacturing facility. He managed construction health and safety activities and he coordinated environmental permitting processes for the project. David was instrumental in the commissioning phases of the plant and he remained as the Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager for the plant until 2004.

David leveraged his diverse background and started work with the Fluor Corporation in 2004. Fluor has a distinguished safety reputation, and they are recognized as being one of the world’s safest companies. At Fluor David served as a U.S. Regional HSE Manager, Senior Corporate Programs Manager, Global HSE Director for Upstream Chemicals, & Global Deputy Director for Energy & Chemicals. In these roles, David led teams responsible for global training, auditing, workers compensation, substance abuse, regulatory compliance, communications, and high impact corporate programs such as OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP). David provided HSE oversight and support for multi-billion dollar “mega” projects in challenging environments.
