Bernard von Bothmer

Bernard von Bothmer, Ph.D.

Bernard von Bothmer teaches American history at the University of San Francisco, where he received USF's 2010 Distinguished Lecturer Award for Excellence in Teaching and USF's 2016 Distinguished Adjunct Teaching Award, and at Dominican University of California. He has reviewed books for The Journal of American History, American Historical Review, Civil War History, The Journal of Southern History, History News Network, and Civil War Book Review. He received a B.A. with honors from Brown University, an M.A. from Stanford University, and a Ph.D. in American history from Indiana University. He has taught American history for over 20 years.
