ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Steve Pease's memoir, Nothing Ventured: An American Life, chronicles his more than 50 years as a turnaround CEO, venture capitalist, and entrepreneur with more than 35 years of experience in Russia. Elsewhere in the author profile is a link to that website.

In Russia, Steve created a successful tank car company (SFAT). His 20 years of service as pro bono CEO and Chair of the U.S. Russia Investment Fund (TUSRIF) oversaw investing in more than 45 new Russian ventures. Steve has also given more than 10 years of service as the pro bono co-Chair of the U.S. Russia Foundation for Economic Advancement and the Rule of Law (USRF). Both TUSRIF and USRF were funded by the United States government and chartered with a mission to work with Russians, encourage entrepreneurship, civil society, and the rule of law, while also working to try to improve the U.S.-Russia relationship. He traveled much of the world over those years.

Born and raised in Spokane, Washington, Steve is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Washington with a master's degree from Harvard Business School. In the U.S. he was a CEO specializing in turnarounds, a venture capitalist, an entrepreneur, and a community activist.

Despite being raised Presbyterian, he spent many years researching the incredibly disproportionate achievements of the Jewish people and the important cultural history and values that have driven them to accomplish so much. That work led to two successful books, The Golden Age of Jewish Achievement and The Debate Over Jewish Achievement. Both are widely regarded for their thorough research and the compelling stories of Jews who have contributed and achieved so much.
