Rebecca E. Hirsch

Rebecca E. Hirsch is an award-winning children’s author and science writer. She grew up playing in the woods, earned a doctorate in the life sciences, and worked in laboratories as a plant biologist. Then she escaped from the lab and wrote her first book for kids (Top 50 Reasons to Care About Polar Bears). She has gone on to publish one hundred books, all for young readers, nearly all about science and nature. She lives and writes in State College, Pennsylvania. When she's not writing her newest book, she visits classrooms and works with students as an author in the schools.
