Anthony Adolph

Anthony Adolph is a professional genealogist, writer and broadcaster living near London. He studied Medieval History at Durham University and then genealogy, family history and heraldry at The Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies in Canterbury, Kent, before becoming a freelance genealogist (www.anthonyadolph.co.uk). From 1999 onwards he has been closely involved with broadcasting about genealogy: he has researched a co-presented a number of television series including Channel Four's 'Extraordinary Ancestors', Living TV's 'Antiques Ghostshow', BBC1's 'Gene Detectives' and Radio 4's 'Meet the Descendants', and he has also appeared in 'Heir Hunters' and 'Who Do You Think You Are?' His first published book was Tracing Your Family History, published by Collins in 2004, and since then he has written a series of books about tracing ancestry, re-exploring and re-examining record-based research going back over the past couple of hundred years, and also the ways we can extend our knowledge much further back into the ancient past through the study of DNA and genetics, archaeology, palaeontology and even mythology.
