Amber E. Kinser

Amber Kinser was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and raised in a 'blended' working class family with several sisters and brothers. Her educational career began at community college, and she continued in school largely because she felt like that was one thing she knew how to do. Having her first child while working on her doctorate brought to her a writing topic that engaged her and that she has been pursuing ever since. She is a feminist writer, mother, and teacher, and member of a 'blended' family of her own. Her first book, Mothering in the Third Wave, by Demeter Press, is an anthology that explores feminist mothers' experiences. Her second book, Motherhood and Feminism, by Seal Press, unfolds a story of U.S. maternal activism that highlights women's force in society as mothers and points toward a continued future of change for mothers and their families.
