Mark W. Geiger

Mark W. Geiger is a graduate of the Wharton School and received his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri. His first book, Financial Fraud and Guerrilla Violence in Missouri’s Civil War, 1861-1865, won the Tom Watson Brown prize for the best book on the U.S. Civil War published in 2010, and was a finalist and received honorable mention for the Lincoln Prize. His dissertation, on which the book is based, received the 2007 Nevins Prize and was named the best dissertation of the year at the University of MIssouri (shared with a dissertation in mathematics). His book Floor Rules: Insider Culture in Financial Markets will be published by Yale University Press in the fall of 2024.
