John Robert Weir

John Weir grew up in Tuttle, OK and attended Cameron University in Lawton, OK (BS Agriculture/Plant Science) and Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX (MS Range Science). He was the superintendent of the OSU Research Range at Oklahoma State University for 16 years, and then became a member of the faculty in the Natural Resource Ecology and Management Department at OSU where he is at currently. John teaches two prescribed fire courses to graduate and undergraduate students at OSU and works with landowners and agency personnel throughout OK and the US, with emphasis on the application of prescribed fire. In the last 35 years he has conducted over 1,400 prescribed burns in everything from shortgrass prairie to Oak-Pine forest. He lives in Orlando, OK with his wife Theresa, they have two children and seven grandkids.
