Bill Van Every

Bill Van Every was born in Charlotte, NC, June 20th 1964. He dropped out of high school in the eleventh grade, but eventually earned a BA in Liberal Arts from the University of Arizona; afterwards attending The MFA for Writers at Warren Wilson where he received his degree. His first book of poems, Devoted Creatures won the Tupelo Judges Prize (Thomas Lux) in 2003. Bill has published in many different journals and on various people and inanimate objects. He now lives in Boone, NC, where he writes and helps raise his two daughters. Bill's most recent manuscript, The Dog Widow's Howl addresses everything from witnessing a pointless and cruel shooting, having to admit his wife to a mental facility, being able to fly and of course, his first kiss.
