Bryan Walpert is a poet, fiction writer, essayist and scholar. He is the author of the novella Late Sonata (Brio Books); three poetry collections, Etymology (Cinnamon Press), A History of Glass (Stephen F. Austin State UP), and Native Bird (Makaro Press); the short story collection Ephraim's Eyes (Pewter Rose Press), as well as two scholarly books, Resistance to Science in Contemporary American Poetry (Routledge) and Poetry and Mindfulness: Interruption to a Journey (Palgrave Macmillan). His work has received the Seizure Viva La Novella Prize (Australia), James Wright Poetry Award from the Mid-American Review, the top prize in the New Zealand Poetry Society International Poetry Competition, and the Royal Society of New Zealand Manhire Prize for Creative Science Writing-Fiction. He is Professor in creative writing at Massey University.
