I retired several years ago after a nearly forty year career in healthcare as a psychiatric nurse and educator. The most profound part of my career was when I became involved in medical ethics, especially issues concerning end-of-life care. That involvement led me to the intersection of medical science and religion. I served on the ethics committee of two leading medical centers and of my local hospice, where I continue to serve as a patient/family volunteer and grief counselor. My articles have appeared in both nursing and faith-based journals. A review of my most recent book, “Through the Eyes of Mark: His World, His Gospel” (Wipf & Stock, 2021) is below. My investigational interests include ethics, gospel origins, and the historical theology of both Western and Eastern Orthodox Christianity. In addition to my MA in psychology I hold a Doctorate in Religious Studies from Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary. I am a member of both The Society of Christian Philosophers and The Society for the Study of Theology.
“Through the Eyes of Mark: His World His Gospel”
"In this book, Jack Ciancio guides the reader through the mystery of the first written gospel. He asks, "Why this gospel, in this form, at this time? To answer these questions, Ciancio strips away 2000 years of cultural and theological interpretation to offer the reader a concise view of the gospel as it was intended for its original time and audience."
