Gregory Sams introduced the world to VegeBurger in 1982 but began tweaking the culture in 1967, introducing organic and natural foods to Britain while pushing the crazy hippy idea that what we eat affects our health. Gregory and his brother Craig got into catering, retail, baking, wholesale, manufacturing and publishing with ‘brands’ like Seed, Green Genes, Ceres, Harmony, and Whole Earth. In 1982 Greg conceived, christened and launched the original VegeBurger, adding a word to the language and initiating the marketplace for vegetarian foods. It changed a lot of lives.
In 1990 Gregory left food for fractals, opening Strange Attractions, the world's only shop dedicated to the new science of chaos theory. He was excited by the images and the implications for how we live our lives. Countless fractal posters, shirts, cards, mugs, etc. came out of that, probably the first digitally produced images to be published and marketed as art. Millions more reproductions were licensed worldwide via the Science Photo Library.
Chaos theory's recognition of self-organization from the bottom up inspired and informed Gregory Sams’ original book, republished in 2014 as The State is Out of Date, We Can Do It Better. Its theme is not about politics, but about not politics, demonstrating the power of freedom in our civilization and the perils of its suppression. The wheel needs a whole new hub, not just another revolution.
Gregory’s second book, Sun of gOd, Discover the Self-Organizing Principle that Underlies Everything, brings our local star out of the closet into which the Church locked it long ago. In it, he shows how cosmological discovery fits more comfortably with the novel notion of living stars than it does with accidental balls of gas governed only by the laws of physics. This “novel” idea was once the hard-wired human response to that which delivers us the light of life. Is this unchallenged taboo the vital missing piece in the cosmic jigsaw puzzle?
The author believes that recognizing the nature of stars is as important to our scientific and spiritual understanding as was recognizing the connection between what we eat and what we are.
Once we have seen it, it appears equally obvious.
